The Bowen Basin Underground Geotechnical Society (BBUGS) and Bowen Basin & Hunter Valley Open Cut Geotechnical Society (BOHOGS) are holding their Joint Technical Meeting / Sponsor’s Day and Exhibition on November 26 at Moranbah Community Centre in Queensland.
They have a spectacular line up of technical presentations and display tables for the event. There will be annual attendance awards, Practitioner of the year award, presentation of the year award and door prizes. Presentation slots are full as of this date.
Specialised Geo is a proud member of BBUGS and BOHOGS, and BOHOGS platinum sponsor for this year. See other photos of last year’s event here.
It was a great 3-days at the 2015 Bowen Basin Symposium held at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre on 7 – 9 October 2015. There were so much useful knowledge and technical ideas shared about current Geological problems, challenges and solutions during the event. Presentation topics covered included Geology, Geophysics, Database and Modelling, Coal Quality, Geotechnical, Structure, Resource Estimation, Safety, Hydrogeology, Environment and New Technologies.
Thursday night at the Bowen Basin Symposium dinner, they had Australia’s First Winter Olympic Gold Medalist Steven Bradbury, who was the night’s keynote speaker. He was very inspirational to listen to to say the least. They had also an auction for a limited edition photo – “The Last Man Standing,” and Specialised Geo purchased it. All funds raised went to the Daniel Morcombe Foundation.
Great night all around! Thanks to the Bowen Basin committee for a great three days.
After six months of road closure due to construction works carried out on Riverside Drive, Nambucca Heads, it was finally opened to the unlicensed and traffic on 11th September 2015.
Specialised Geo had completed the construction works in the area one week ahead of schedule. The work involved landslip remediation and reconstruction of around 5,500 square metres of road pavement and installation of new retaining structures and quardrails in the section of the road, between Woodbell Street and Bellwood Drive, near the Pacific Highway.
Expert environmental solution was also adopted for this site because the area is identified as endangered ecological community.
The project was funded by the Federal Government.
