Rain Rain Rain….what’s the saying? When it rains it pours?! All three of our current site locations were rained out last week, but we are back on deck at Kuranda, and managed to get into our Coffs Harbour site on Thursday for a look and it seems to have held up ok. The jury is still out on the third site, as we have been unable to get to it as yet….

Sponsors for the 2013 International Symposium on Slope Stability

The event has been previously held in South Africa 2006, Australia 2007, Chile 2009 and Canada 2011. The symposium is a great opportunity for open pit mining and civil engineering practitioners, consultants, researchers and suppliers worldwide to exchange views on the state-of-the-art slope technologies for excavations in weak and fresh rocks.

Protection of people and infrastructure a priority in current Specialised Geo projects

Specialised Geo’s skills have been put to good use in some current projects being undertaken in two vastly different environments: one on the shores of Sydney Harbour and the other in the coal mine region of NSW’s Hunter Valley.

“Both projects involve making the surrounding site more stable to protect important infrastructure that is adjacent, and also to protect the local environment,” said Leigh Henness, Managing Director of Specialised Geo. “In the Sydney job, we are using twin rope access to deliver the project, whereas in the Hunter, we are using crane box drilling.”
