Specialised Geo uses shotcrete to adhere to, and stabilise surfaces in situations where normal concrete cannot be applied. Shotcrete is renowned for its effectiveness in finishing and securing surfaces in tunnelling and mining environments and for vertical excavations where steel mesh is difficult and slow to install. Specialised Geo has vast experience in applying shotcrete, achieving outstanding results that resemble a rendered finish, whilst reducing construction costs and saving time.
Shotcrete is the perfect solution for projects that have difficult access and/or require a polished finish. It is highly effective in finishing and securing surfaces in road, rail and residential projects. Shotcrete can be applied in a fraction of the time compared to other rockfall protection methods, taking pressure off the budgets in large and small projects. Specialised Geo’s industry-leading expertise in applying shotcrete has been used in a wide range of successful site stabilisation projects.
Sites that may require the use of shotcrete include:
• Road embankments
• Tunnel and shaft construction
• Transport corridors
• Spillways
• Bridges
• Retaining walls
• Slopes, cliff faces and rock faces.
Shotcreting finishes include:
• Gun
• Screed
• Wood float
• Sponge
• Steel trowel.
Shotcrete is a process of forcing wet concrete through a hose to adhere to a surface, making it ideal for applying to vertical faces or difficult to access environments. Compressed air is used to increase velocity to discharge the wet concrete or to blow a dry mix where water is added upon discharge. Shotcrete is a relatively new technology that has largely replaced steel meshing which is slow and difficult to install, especially in underground environments.
The team at Specialised Geo has extensive knowledge and experience in the application of shotcrete for rockfall protection and other project needs. Contact us to discuss how shotcrete can meet the requirements of your construction or maintenance project.
